The animals, old enough to reproduce, will be given to
impoverished families in Nicaragua that live on less than
$1 a day. They will use the animals as nourishment and
a reliable source of income. As these families raise the
animals, they will PAY IT FORWARD by giving some
of the offspring to their struggling neighbors.
Unemployment and underemployment rates in rural
Nicaragua can reach 80%.  A small loan can provide the
opportunity a Nicaraguan family needs.  Amigos for
Christ has adopted the micro loan program developed
by the Nobel Prize winning Grameen Bank.  In 2007,
our micro loans successfully helped 40 Nicaraguan
families, and we want to expand the program to serve
100 families in 2008.
Most loans are between $50 and $150, but any
contribution to the program greatly helps.
